Mila

Annoyance burned in my veins as I stared at the row of dresses. All simple, mute colors, modest. Nothing revealing. Nothing flashy. Nothing I’d actually wear.

I’d been standing in my red lace bra and panties staring at them for the last thirty minutes. It wasn’t even about the brutti bestiti del cazzo, ugly fucking dresses. It was the fact that I’d been here for a month, and I was no closer to forming a new plan.

I’d decorated this stupid fucking mansion. I spent time with the Vancini women. I fucked Leif. Or rather, I let him fuck me. And it was great.

I licked my lips at the memories, okay better than great. It was depraved. Oh, so dirty. It was the only thing that kept the predator at bay. But it wasn’t the point.

In fact, it was making this harder. I was becoming a regular person instead of the monster I’d turned myself into. The fake wife I’d been playing was starting to feel real. I was being led around by a dick. Literally.

And it was eating away at my soul. What little soul I had left.

I was here for revenge. To kill Leonardo, not be Leif’s wife. I wasn’t supposed to enjoy sex with him. But I did.

Fine, I could live with that. I could want him and still destroy him. Sex was physical. There were no emotions.

I sometimes wondered if I had emotions at all. I ignored the unfamiliar swirling in my gut as I glanced at Leif’s clothes hanging next to mine.

I couldn’t live with not fulfilling my mission. I hadn’t even seen Leonardo once since marrying Leif. The rumor was they had family dinner every Sunday. But four Sundays had come and gone; nothing.

Now I was supposed to go out clubbing with him and his siblings. Play my part. Smile and be sweet. Wear an ugly dress and laugh at the right times. I couldn’t do it.

I needed to find a way to meet with my uncle or Matteo. I needed to regroup, see if we could form a new plan. A different way to get to Leonardo. But I couldn’t with Owen watching my every step. Maybe I could—.

“Problem?” Leif’s deep voice cut through my thoughts. My eyes connected with his as I turned my head slightly. The current between us already trying to pull me to him. The pain on my thighs from his hand last night flaring to life, settling low and warm in my stomach.

“Just looking for an outfit,” I said as I ignored the sensations he created in me.

“I think I have something.” He smiled as he started pushing clothes around on his side of the closet, the hangers making a soft click as they knocked together.

“I’m not sure one of your suits would work at Luminescence.”

His glare only made me smile. I rolled my lips together to hide it. I shouldn’t provoke him. Not when it meant he took it out on my body. Not when I liked it so much.
